The Istituto linguistico-semiotico (www.ils.com.unisi.ch) is responsible for three courses of Argumentation theory within the Master programs of the University of Lugano : Argumentation in the media (Master in Media management), Argumentation in Financial communication (Master in Financial communication), and Argumentation in the Institutions (Master in Institutional Communication).

A significant part of the research of the ILS members tackles theoretical aspects and various applications of Argumentation theory (see section Documents): In particular, several studies are devoted to the role of argumentation in different communicative practices and in different interaction fields, and to the analysis of argumentation quality and manipulation.

ILS is therefore committed to the elaboration of the fundamental concepts of argumentation and to the project overall coordination. Moreover, ILS is responsible for the translation into Italian of texts within Argumentum.

Beside the ILS members (see section People), other partners from the University of Lugano will contribute to Argumentum: Prof. Dr. Marco Colombetti, Director of the Institute for Communication technologies (www.itc.com.unisi.ch) is responsible for the fundamentals of logic for argumentation; Prof. Dr. Martin Eppler (www.ica.com.unisi.ch) collaborates in particular in the field of business argumentation, and in integrating argumentation visualization tools into the courses; and Prof. Dr. Antonella Carassa collaborates in analyzing the psychological aspects of argumentation.
