The Department of Sociology at the University of Geneva provides knowledge about social and political relevance of the argumentative practice and on argumentation in social conditions (in particular in the construction of the social image of the arguer). Argumentation in social sciences discourses belongs to the main interests of an international research network (6 th framework program of E.U., 2004-2007) coordinated by Franz Schultheis. In connection with this project, a summer school is being planned for young scholars from Switzerland and other European Countries to work on questions of national particularities in discourses of social sciences and their use of argumentation in describing social reality.
Work assignments:
The Department of Sociology is responsible for the Module C05 (Argumentation in social contexts) and for the translation of texts into German.
